Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL)

The WELL program is an Australian government initiative run by the Department of Education Science and Technology. Each year funds are allocated to assist workplace training where language, literacy or numeracy support is needed. Through the program enterprises can access government funding for the delivery of accredited training.

Funding can be accessed via a DEST office in any state or territory.

These days literacy has a much broader meaning than just reading and writing, it covers a broad range of skills. Skills which have become more and more specialised as the world gets quicker and more complex: financial literacy, specific numeracy, OHS literate, IT savvy, critical thinking skills. Some are new skills, some are old ones we forget to pass on.

Our apprentices need help with numeracy, some with reading and writing, and WELL funding can provide assistance. And it doesn't stop once you're qualified.

With the rapidly changing nature and demands of the industry literacy can help with retention rates, reskilling and upskilling. From apprentices to managers, supervisors to executives.
