The Australian Government is responding to requests from industry to:

  1. Improve the linkages between skills funding and industry needs, and;
  2. Increase the focus on workplace productivity in Australia.

In the 2010/11 Budget $660 million was allocated to assisting industry’s Workforce Development and Training; the objective being toInvest in training, apprenticeships and adult LLN to ensure Australia has the skills it needs to support a growing economy”.

In the 2011/12 Budget over $3 billion was allocated over 6 years for the ‘Building Australia’s Future Workforce’ Package; the objective being to “provide a new approach to deliver the skilled workers the Australian economy needs”.

Over 100 Workforce Development and Training initiatives have arisen from the 2 Budgets.

In 2010 and 2011, EE-Oz has been particularly involved in assisting the ‘roll-out’ of the Enterprise Based Productivity Places (EBPPP), Critical Skills Investment Fund (CSIF) – Round 1 and the Workplace English Language & Literacy (WELL) Program, including the Indigenous Employment Program (IEP).

In 2011 & 12, EE-Oz will assist the ‘roll-out’ of CSIF – Round 2, the National Workforce Development Fund (WDF), the ‘More Help for Mature Age Workers’ Fund and continue to administer the EBPPP, CSIF (Round 1) and WELL.
