The Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL) program is an Australian government initiative administered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

Each year funds are provided to assist workplace training where language, literacy or numeracy support is needed. Through the program, enterprises can access government funding for the delivery of accredited training.

Funding can be accessed via a DEEWR office in any state or territory.

Today literacy has a much broader meaning than just reading and writing. It covers a broad range of skills.

Skills which have become increasingly specialised as the world of work becomes more complex. Financial literacy, specific numeracy, OHS literacy, IT savvy, critical thinking skills are all involved.

Where industry members need help with numeracy, reading and/or writing, WELL funding can be accessed to support training.

With the rapidly changing nature and demands of the industry, increased language, literacy and numeracy capability can help with retention rates, reskilling and up skilling. From apprentices to managers, supervisors to executives.
